Marcus the lamb...

I am cooking lunch for my husband when he starts clapping and saying,"I love it! ohh its great, thats great! Listen to this Deb..."and he procedes to tell the story of Marcus, a lamb that was hand reared from birth by a class of kids. The whole reason for rearing the animals is to teach the students about farming. Every angle of farming. These kids named this lamb, fed it out of thier hands and then voted to auction him for meat... I am saddened. The news of Marcus being sold to slaughter by a board of students is controversial to say the least. I can see both sides, I realy can. I mean if its ok for a tiger to chase down its prey then why cant people be entitled to eat what they want? Its a matter of food chain. I respect other peoples right to eat what they want, but this lamb was treated as a pet! It just feels wrong you know?

But what saddens me more than anything is how my husband reacted to it! He was glad it went that way! He thinks its good to teach children to detach themselfs from respecting life on all levels. His view is that we are dominant, if things cant servive because of us and what we do, then they shouldn't be here. He says its about servival of the fittest. I am just realy, realy sad... I dont understand this way of thinking, and I cant help but feel it is wrong. But others may say my view is wrong, so I must love my husband and respect his view even though I disagree with it. That is what I would want from him.

I am sorry that my post is not more uppity or awesome, but I just had to express it so I could let it go...
